Dog breeds

January 29, 2003, 9:43 PM

I'm done bitching. It has to be done sometimes.

I went to a Dog Breeds class tonight at PAWS. It was great aside that there was one of those mouth breathers there. She was a combination mouth breather, ADHD, rapid pen clicker woman. Who had a comment about everything. She was a child ADHD'er who didn't make that transition into adulthood very well. Dear god, I wonder what this woman did for a living. And she had a husband! This guy must be a fellow mouth breather. Either that or constant pot head to be able to deal with her.

Then sitting next to her was this girl who's parents must have not stopped telling her awww, you're so cuuuute because when she smiled, she scrunched up her nose. Just like BooBoo does. Only Boo's 1 1/2 and this girl must have been 18 or 19. She was cute until that nose scrunching thing.

Anyway, Eric (teacher) talked about the breeds like the herding breeds (Australian shepard's, etc), the sight breeds (greyhounds) blah blah blah. He said the only dogs that have ever bit him in the 15 years he's been working there are the lap dogs. Toy poodles, Shih-Tzu's. He said puppies bite, but they do more of the mouthing thing. I had to ask why the pure bred pit bull puppy was put down and he said that in rare instances, pups are taken away from their mom's way too early and don't learn how not to bite. This particular puppy got the attack thing in his mind and you couldn't turn him off. Eric said one day he had to evaluate this dog because people were scared of him. He said he got into the kennel and this dog was jumping up and tryin to hang from his testicles and he actually had to put his foot on him to hold him down to try and decide how he was going to get out of the kennel without getting his balls chewed off.

So yeah, fun class. It's a fun place to be. I know the full time staff don't go away from there daily wondering if they worked hard enough or not. I have to tell you, some of the cat people there are the strangest of birds. Mouth breather is an example. Well, I'm a cat person, so what do you expect?
