SO BORING, DO NOT READ. Cardrooms = Gambling

September 15, 2004, 9:51 AM

All the voting happened and I didn't do it. Because. My voters registration is showing up as my maiden name from when I used to live at my parents with the kids. Wrong name. Wrong district. I've been side-tracked.

I wish I could've voted against cardrooms in her district though. We're maybe a mile from my parents house where I grew up and they have this proposition to either vote for or against cardrooms (gambling stuff). There's a cardroom at the bowling alley and how the supporters of cardrooms got their point across was "SAVE ******* LANES!" because apparently it would suffer and die without the cardroom action. Total BS.

It's been around for 30 years and they could promote family nights and midnight bowling. They didn't always have a cardroom. And it's been a shady place since I've been around.

What this means now is that cardrooms can pop up all over the place. The dude that owns the porn video store where you see cops busting people all the time wants to open a room. Yeehaw.

I don't mind gambling. But there are places for it. And we have places around here for it. But why there?

But Din0 R0ssi is the republican candiate for Govenor. He's moderate. He seems like a nice guy. Christ*ne Greg0ire will probably get it because she's democrat and we're a democratic state and also because she's pro-life. And because she has name recognition. R0ssi is Catholic and even though the govenor does not decide the abortion issue, it doesn't matter. He apparently said he won't go back on his beliefs and really, why should he? I think Christ*ne Greg0ire will be fine too. I just like it when the underdog wins. They're both saying the same things: Affordable healthcare, more jobs, better education.

Tell me why we can build a football and baseball stadium and our schools are shit? People say that's a simplistic view and why shouldn't it be that simplistic? I know sports fans don't agree. I don't care.

There's a student run radio station at a local High School that's been around for 30 years that I've listened to since I was 14. It used to be funded and they lost their funding and have to do a pledge drive often to raise money so these kids can run this radio station. Why is that? You should hear these kids when they start out. Some of the kids have speech impediments, one of the more recent girls is probably hearing impaired and I gather that by the way she talks and most kids start out reading the news really without confidence. But by the end of the year, you should hear them. What an opportunity for kids to expand. Think of all they learn behind the scenes. It's not just learning to be a DJ. But they lose their funding. VH-1, which I didn't watch yesterday (wow) has "Save the Music". Why do we have that? We never see "Save the Football Program!". "Save Sports!"

We have our priorities fucked up in a huge way.

OH OH OH, Cath has decided she's going to play the violin. I'm really excited. We don't have a lot of money, but the instrument thing isn't going to be an option in this house. It's something the kids just do. So we can do something to be able to rent the instruments month to month and it really isn't that much. Cath was thinking about the trumpet, the clarinet or the violin. She also tried the viola but thinks she likes the high pitch of the violin. I understand that, it's my favorite instrument. I played the clarinet, french horn and in marching band it was the mellophone. Which is basically the french horn sound, easier to march with. Blah blah blah.
